Your body is your temple! So, how do you do your best to cherish it today? The question might seem daunting - but it doesn’t have to be, so long as you remember to start small.
Take one extra walk. Drink two more glasses of water. Add three pieces of fruits to your cereal or veggies to your sandwich.
Getting in an incremental mindset is a great beginning -- and opens up pathways to better habits for your mind and body.
From there, remember these two things today:
We don’t need massive weight loss goals or “new year, new you” declarations to make change. Just a sense of momentum - and moving more, slowly but surely, gets our brains on track to keep moving, and stay moving.
And remember the benefits - increase self-esteem, memory, and range of motion, reduced serious health risks, stress and anxiety - and, invariably, more smiles and joy.
We Are What We Practice - and We Are What We Eat!
One hand washes the other - increased movement generally puts us in a healthy mindset - and helps us keep a healthy appetite.
Instead of being defensive, and restrictive, get offensive and open - to new, small dietary practices.
More nuts and legumes instead of meats, more real food, less processed food, more stuff that makes your body feel good (even if your brain might not love the changes).
It’s all about alignment - when we put our bodies in motion, it becomes hard to stop our minds - and what we put in our stomach - from following along.
So just for today, get in movement a little more, eat a little more consciously and move the needle a little further in the direction you want to go.
Your temple will thank you tomorrow!
