Want Success? Get Rid Of These Habits

It’s great to want success in life, but if you make it the center of your life you can start going crazy with the pressure you’ve put on yourself. When you’re success obsessed, you can start developing unhealthy habits that you think will lead you to success but are counterintuitive and will actually get in the way of your success. Here are five habits you should definitely let go of if you want to achieve success while keeping your sanity:

  • Putting health on the backburner
With a long list of goals to pursue, stopping to take care of our bodies can feel like an unproductive use of time. In reality, nothing could possibly be more productive. If you want to succeed at ANYTHING in life, you have to be healthy and that means sleeping, eating, and getting physical activity on a regular basis.

  • Perfectionism
Sometimes we’ll hear “nothing is perfect!” and other times, “everything is perfect just the way it is.” What an insane mixed message! Luckily, it doesn’t actually matter which is true, because either way, you have no control over perfection. You’re not capable of making something perfect OR failing to make something perfect. So, trying to do so is an unwise use of your time and will only slow you down on your road to success.

  • Multi-tasking
Though a multitasker may seem impressive, it is not an optimal way to get things done. Spreading yourself too thin across too many tasks results in none of the them getting done to the best of your ability. Try to focus your time and energy on one thing at a time and then move on to the next thing when you’re ready. You’re not superhuman and shouldn’t expect yourself to juggle multiple tasks at once.

  • Saying YES to things that don’t support your goals
In a world where fears make us say “No,” we’ve come to extol those who make a habit out of saying “Yes.” While saying yes and being positive are ways to expand your life, you can’t say yes all the time. In order to please people, we may say yes to so many things that soon we don’t have time to nourish and nurture ourselves. Sure, say YES to life, but say NO to anything that will weigh you down.
    ?????

Before you drive yourself insane hustling to bend your life into the shape you want to see it in, take a step back and rethink your definition of success. If you’re mentally or physically unwell, you won’t be able to enjoy any success in the material world that you might acquire. When you re-organize your priorities so that health and happiness come first, everything you need will fall into place.
