Some wise 20th century philosophers’ once declared: “Tie-ime is on my side.”
But at least for me, most Monday mornings, the Rolling Stones’ legendary lyric feels more like a bold-faced lie.
Most of us don’t feel like we have enough time. And time is, by definition, constantly slipping through our fingers. We can never hold it, keep it or fast forward it.
Thankfully, we can do things to make way better use of it than we often do.
Here’s a handful of tips to stretch your time, get a boost of energy and make the most of whatever time you’ve got today.
I throw some mint in my water cup every day to get me through the first glass and keep drinking throughout the day - lemon or cucumber work great too!
Avoid junk food!
It’s 2018. Every restaurant has a green alternative to burgers and fries. No need to be militant, or never let yourself splurge - but remember to ask the question - how will I feel after eating this in an hour?
Batch your food!
On Sunday, try whipping up a massive bowl of overnight oatmeal with whatever milk, fruits and nuts you like - or a big tossed salad, dressing on the side.
You can feed yourself 5 meals every day of the week -- and cut down on the prep time in the process.
Afternoon snacking!
Our time and attention are commonly zapped after lunch every day. The dreaded 3pm malaise.
A handful of nuts, a couple of carrots, an apple, even a glass of lightly caffeinated tea can help keep our batteries charged and make the most of time we often waste.
Breathe!
Your breath is always there. Taking 3 breaths or even 30 seconds periodically to focus on our breath throughout the day - especially when we get our tails spun - can help refocus our energy, recenter our minds and reset our sense of time’s evaporating clock.
We have the tools. You have the time. Try a few of these today and keep on ticking.
